Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini dies in South Africa aged 72

As custodian of Zulu traditions and customs, he revived many cultural practices together with Umhlanga – also referred to as the Reed Dance ceremony. Seen by some as patriarchal, the ceremony is alleged to be geared toward celebrating virginity amongst ladies and younger girls and elevating consciousness about HIV/Aids in a province with a few of the highest charges of an infection.
